Educational Resources for Bilingual Spanish/English Children

If you are attempting to ensure your child or children learn or retain Spanish, this is the page for you. I’ve gathered links and resources in my own attempt to make sure my child retains my native language. I’ve tried out all the resources below and recommend only what I know. This list will be compromised predominantly of free and easily accessible resources. Any products or subscriptions will list prices but will only be included if the prices are worth the resource. None of these products are made by this site.

Educational Television Shows in Spanish

Plaza Sésamo – the classic Sesame Street cartoons in Spanish. The great part is that it’s not just translated but adapted to include special Spanish alphabet characters and common words. Find all the videos here. The Alphabet Song is here.

Cleo y Cuquin – A little girl and her baby brother get up to all sorts of adventures with their friends, including a dog named Tomate (Tomato). The Spanish is proper and has a slight but understandable accent from Spain. Videos rang from snippets to full hour episodes. It’s reminiscent of the Spanish version of Peanuts. It should be noted that this originally from Spain and includes songs that you Native Spanish speakers will recognize, such as: Un Elefante se Columpiaba and La Cucharacha.

BabyFirst in Spanish – Great resource for alphabet songs, numbers, colors and incredibly cute and colorful songs. If your little ones enjoy songs, this is a great resource. The Spanish used is natural not awkward attempts at straight translation. The characters are incredibly cute and memorable, these include: the Color Crew (crayons with personality), GooGoo and GaaGaa (two curious babies with contagious laughter), Vocabulary Larry (a wordy parrot) and Rainbow Pony (a pony that enjoys coloring).

Mother Goose Club in Spanish – Mother Goose songs and other popular songs sung by children and adults dressed as mother goose characters, such Mother Goose, Little Boo Peep, and Jack Be Nimble.

Little Baby Bum in Spanish – Lots of songs and characters for your children.

Little Angel in Spanish – Notably adorable videos including videos about Baby’s first visit to the Doctor Here.

PinkFong Songs in Spanish – from the Popular makers of the song “Baby Shark”

Hey Kids in Spanish – Adorable songs in Spanish including “Es Hora de Despertar” which includes teaching children to brush their teeth.

Educational Apps in Spanish
